Crack Repair
- There are two types of swimming pool cracks:
Structural:
Crack penetrates gunite structure and water leaks through crack to
earth (& visa versa).
These can be in the wall, in the floor, or both. Occasionally I see them in
spa and love seats.
The most effective way to
repair a structural crack is to inject a resin epoxy into the crack to fill
the voids and bond the concrete together. Epoxy strength is 13,0000 PSI,
much stronger than the
original gunite concrete. We need to drain the pool for the procedure . This
process is highly effective.
A second option is to fill the crack with plaster. If the structure moves no
more, the plaster covers
the void and seals the crack from leaking. This repair is done underwater.
It is not as effective
but less expensive.
Non-Structural:
Crack only on plaster surface. Does not penetrate structure and
does not leak water.
We fill the crack
with plaster. If the structure moves no more, the plaster fills the void
and seals the crack from leaking. This repair is done underwater.
- We also repair
cracked concrete other than in swimming pools.
If you have concrete that is leaking water, we can inject a resin epoxy or an
expanding foam into
the voids to eliminate the leaking.
Common applications are leaking basements, concrete walls, parking garage walls,
etc.
If the concrete has rusting reinforcing steel (rebar), we can remove rusted
rebar and restore
the concrete as well.
