If you have an old controller that looks like any of the following images, you are fortunate if all the functions still operate properly. Many have been replaced, many still remain. For these older units, its only a matter of time before they need to be upgraded.
Compool (now owned by Pentair) has been discontinuing upgrade kits but some are still available (and are in short supply). If an upgrade kit is no longer available, a whole new control system will need to be installed.
Jandy continues to sell upgrade kits for all their products.

Spa side remote info:
When a Spa Side Remote is installed in the tile line, it will eventually become saturated with water and short out. Symptoms include pumps and lights turning on by themselves or not at all.
When this happens, the remote must be relocated.
