Sometimes it's better not to
use my services and save your money!
Following
are examples of when you should just replaster...
- If your
plaster is older than 15 years it's probably best to replaster. I may be able to
prolong your agony, but you'll be replastering sooner than later.
- If the
pool has a rebar stain and you are considering replastering you should replaster
or wait and have it all done at once. The plaster company will normally take out
the rusted rebar for free.
If you have
a crack in your plaster, you need to find out...
- Is the
pool or spa losing water (leaking)? If so, I can help you or refer you to
someone who can.
If not, any work I do will only be cosmetic!
THE
BUCKET TEST
This is
a simple and effective test to help you determine if your pool or spa
is leaking.
-
Shut off
power to equipment for entire test
-
Get a
3-5 gallon bucket.
-
Fill it
with water from the pool (spa) and place it on the first step in the pool.
You must put enough water in it so it does not float away!
-
Mark the
water level in the pool with a piece of duct tape (or other type of marker).
-
Mark the
water level in the bucket.
-
Leave
the bucket for 3 days or more. (You can add a gallon of chlorine to
keep the water blue- it will not effect the test results).
-
Check
the water level in the bucket and in the pool. Is there a difference?
If the water in the bucket has lost less water than the pool you have a
leak!
If the water level in each has remained equal, you are okay.
If the water in the bucket has lost more than the pool, you either have a
hole in the bucket or a dog is drinking from your bucket!
-
Do the
same test with the equipment running normal hours of daily operation. Make
sure the pool sweep can't knock the bucket over!
EXAMPLE
#1: After 3 days you find that the bucket has lost 2" of water and the
pool has lost 2" of water. You have no leak! You lost 2" in each from
evaporation.
EXAMPLE #2: After 3 days you find the pool has lost 2" and the
bucket has lost none. You have a leak in you pool. Call me: 484-POOL.
The law of
physics states that evaporation will occur at the same rate in the bucket and
the pool.
A simple and effective test!
